Where to Pick Tulips in New England
3 Pick-Your-Own Tulip Fields to Visit in New England This Spring
Trial Garden Tulip Display at Massachusetts Horticultural Society Garden at Elm Bank on Sunday, April 27, 2025
Nothing signals spring quite like the arrival of tulip season. Although brief, this vibrant time of year transforms fields and farms into colorful landscapes filled with red, yellow, pink, and purple blooms. Over the past two years, visiting a pick-your-own tulip farm has become one of my favorite spring traditions. If you’re looking to celebrate the season with a scenic outing, here are three must-visit pick-your-own tulip farms in New England that are perfect for flower lovers and photographers alike.
Wicked Tulips Flower Farm (Preston, CT & Rhode Island)
Wicked Tulips Flower Farm is renowned as New England’s largest pick-your-own tulip destination, boasting over 1.5 million tulips across three locations: Preston, CT; Exeter, RI; and Johnston, RI. Each site features more than 75 tulip varieties, creating a mesmerizing palette of colors.
You can keep up with the status of each field throughout the season by checking the Bloom Reports on the Wicked Tulips website. Since the fields bloom at different times—often overlapping—they typically peak in the following order: Exeter, Preston, and then Johnston. As the season winds down, Wicked Tulips offers discounted weekday tickets!
